Led "Corn" lamps are a high power replacement for high power compact fluorescent. They are a very long life low energy lamp and are suitable for a number of applications. At this time (2014) they are not a suitable replacement for sodium lamps unless you are happy to accept a reduced light level.
They are usually available in either integrated versions with built in drivers or they require a separate driver.
